I am a certified hypnotherapist. I have completed an intensive
course at Tacoma Community College in Tacoma, Washington, under the instruction of Roy Hunter and Joni Wiley.
I participate in continuing education, such as the National Guild of Hypnotists yearly 3-day conference,
held in Boston, Mass. There are many workshops taught by industry leaders I attend during this weekend conference.
I am trained in parts therapy, which is a technique to help clients resolve inner conflicts.
I am an associate of Roy Hunter, and was asked to be an associate of his while taking the final part
of his course. Our office has over 35 years of combined experience. I am registered in the State of Washington as a Registered
Hypnotherapist and Counselor.
WHO IS ROY HUNTER?
Roy Hunter was trained in the early 1980’s by the legendary Charles Tebbetts, who pioneered the
practice of client centered hypnotherapy, and handpicked Mr. Hunter to carry on his teachings. Mr. Hunter is the foremost
authority on the Charles Tebbetts approach of client centered hypnotherapy, including the highly effective parts therapy that
helps people resolve inner conflicts.
Mr. Hunter has written text books based on the teachings of Charles Tebbetts, and they are used
in hypnosis schools around the world.
Mr. Hunter‘s most recent book is Hypnosis for Inner Conflict Resolution: Introducing Parts Therapy
(Crown House Publishing, 2005), and it comes highly recommended by experienced professionals.
He has taught professional hypnotherapy since 1987, and has practiced professional hypnotherapy since
1983. He has written numerous hypnosis articles, as well as other books on hypnosis and self-hypnosis.
Roy Hunter has lectured internationally, has received numerous national and international awards, and
was recently honored by the National Guild of Hypnotists with the Award of the Braid (named after a pioneer of hypnosis) for
lifetime achievement. He has also been awarded the Charles Tebbetts Award by both the National Guild of Hypnotists and the
American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. Mr. Hunter is a Fellow of the Association of Professional Hypnosis and
Psychotherapy, an international association with world headquarters in the U.K.
WHO WAS CHARLES TEBBETTS?
The late Charles Tebbetts was a pioneer in hypnosis & hypnotherapy, and was a lifelong student
of both.
He taught that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis (hence the fact you will not be hypnotized if you truly
do not want to be).
After Mr. Tebbetts suffered a paralyzing stroke, he used self-hypnosis to teach himself to walk and
talk again. (I have seen a taped session done by him and it is impossible to see any after affects of this stroke).
Being a lifelong student and studying many different hypnosis styles and techniques, he put together
an approach of hypnotherapy designed to empower the client. He also took a concept from Paul Federn and evolved it into what
he coined as parts therapy.
He was trained, in part, by Gil Boyne, another great hypnotist.
Mr. Tebbetts wrote the book Miracles on Demand (now out of print), which includes actual scripts of
sessions he facilitated with parts therapy.
After the end of the 1970’s, Charles Tebbetts and his wife, Joyce, moved from California to Washington
State and established their own school of hypnotherapy in Edmonds (north of Seattle). He also started a chapter of the American
Council of Hypnotist Examiners, which became independent after several years, eventually merging with the National Guild of
Hypnotists.
Mr. Tebbetts was inducted into the International Hypnosis Hall of Fame for lifetime achievement prior
to his passing, and has awards given in his name by two major hypnosis associations. He has been referred to as the Grand
Master Teacher.
WHAT IS PARTS THERAPY?
Have you ever experienced a time when part of you wanted to do something and part of you did not?
Everyone has different parts that make up the whole person.
In parts therapy, we find the parts that are in conflict with each other, talk to them, listen to them
and come to a resolution to enable you, the client, to resolve your issue(s). Parts therapy is not always called for, and
will not be used on every client or in every session.
Only a hypnotherapist well trained in parts therapy should practice it.

Mind-centered Therapists
Samples of mind-centered therapists are hypnotherapists, neuro-linguistic programming practitioners
(NLP), integrative release therapists(IRT), regression therapists and metaphysicians.
Mind-centered therapists look at the structures of one ’s belief systems and how they may be conflicting with and/or not supporting
a client’s quality
of life. Mind-centered therapists often find the original cause of what the stuck states are and work with the unconscious
mind to reframe limiting patterns and beliefs which provide greater resources and confidence for the client to live the life
they desire.
